With help from people like you, we sent out 142,979 meals in 2024 to the houseless and food-insecure community. Join us in the kitchen to help our team turn donated food into nutritious meals! From prepping vegetables, making sandwiches, packaging meals, and much more, there is plenty to help with! ### SHIFTS: There are two volunteer time slots to choose from Monday-Friday: **9 am to 12 pm and/or 1 pm to 3:30 pm.** If you need to come a little late or leave a little early, no problem at all. _Sign up for the shift your schedule best aligns with._ **Each volunteer must register for their own shift.** ### DRESS GUIDELINES: When volunteering in our kitchen, we ask you to dress comfortably and appropriately! Here are a few key points to remember: - Volunteers must wear a **hair covering** such as a hat, hair net, or bandana. - Long hair must be tied up and covered. We provide hair nets. - Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. - Volunteers must have their shoulders, abdomen, and armpits covered. - Short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirts only, no crop-tops permitted. - Volunteers with artificial nails and/or nail polish must wear gloves (will be provided) when handling any Ready-To-Eat or raw food. ### SAFETY AND AGE REQUIREMENTS: For safety reasons, we **do not allow persons under 14 years of age** to volunteer in our kitchen. - Those 14 to 18 years old may be allowed to use knives or work around industrial kitchen equipment, depending on their experience level. - **Volunteers 14-16 must be accompanied by an adult.** - Anyone 18 years and older can work in our production kitchen. **GROUPS:** If you want to bring a group of 10 or more, please email volunteer@feedlouisville.org so we can work with you to schedule a date that works best! ### LOCATION: Our kitchen is at 1334 Story Avenue Louisville, KY. Second Sundays - A Pint of Politics and #DoingSomething Join INDIVISIBLE Sacramento, Sister District Sacramento, and the Coalition Against Project 2025 at our favorite local eatery and Coalition Partner, Oak Park Brewing Co. We meet on the 2nd Sundays and will provide unique ways to take action each month. 2-4 pm We meet rain or shine on the outside patio! **Activities** At this Pint of Politics, we will review the state of play, introduce you to our activities - lobbying, postcards, phonebanks, protests, coalition and community building, grassroots organizing, and getting connected to our network to find your happy place. **Bring Donations of Tarps, socks, gloves, scarves, travel sized hand lotion, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, as well as now accepting clean used adult clothing ** This is supporting our unhoused neighbors through the Black Hair and Hygiene Project supported by the Poor People's Campaign and the Community Lead Advocacy Program. Clothing donations are going to a downtown clothing closet. Join San Francisco Public Works for a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 10 (Bayview, Vis Valley, Dogpatch, and more). There will be 7-10 worksites where volunteers will garden, mulch, pick up litter, plant trees, or abate graffiti. The projects and tasks will be different, depending on the site and community group's requests. ### What to Expect - The event kicks off at Bayview K.C. Jones Playground lawn (1601 Armstrong Ave) with registration between 8:30 AM and 9 AM. - We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview. - Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites. - Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon. - Lunch will be served to volunteers at the end. ### What to Wear/Bring - Dress in layers - Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen - Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated ### Community Partners San Francisco Public Works, Elected Officials, San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, SF Environment
