Civic Sundays LA is meeting LIVE and we need YOU to come work with us to save our democracy! Civic Sundays meets in person only at private locations in the Silverlake/Los Feliz/Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles. There are always multiple ways you can help defend our democracy and support progressive candidates up and down the ballot, whether it's a local race or one with national appeal. Phone banking, Text Banking, Postcarding and Truth Bombs will be among the offerings. Note: Protecting our members' health is important to us. We all trust science and vaccination. If you are feeling unwell or have been exposed to COVID, please stay home and test negative before returning; If you are immune-compromised, feel free to wear a mask to our meetings to protect yourself; we won't be offended. Our goals are to create a native meadow and an oak woodland to promote biodiversity, sequester carbon, attract pollinators, and educate the community about our natural environment. Join San Francisco Public Works for a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 9 (Portola, the Mission, Bernal Heights, and more). There will be 7-10 worksites where volunteers will garden, mulch, pick up litter, plant trees, or abate graffiti. The projects and tasks will be different, depending on the site and community group's requests. If you have a child in your group or preferred activity, email volunteer@sfdpw.org. ### What to Expect - The event kicks off at Garfield Square Park Grass Lawn (26th St and Harrison St) with registration between 8:30 AM and 9 AM. - We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview. - Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites. - Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon. ### What to Wear/Bring - Dress in layers - Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen - Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated ### Community Partners San Francisco Public Works, Elected Officials, SF Recreation and Parks Department (SFRPD), SF Environment
